The second edition of Integration Bee of the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS), Nanyang Technological University was held on Saturday, 11 March 2023 at SPMS-LT1. Organised by the Odyssey Committee, the competition this year adopted a format similar to MIT Integration Bee and required participants to solve integrals within a time limit, with scores awarded based on speed and accuracy. The competition was proudly supported by the Odyssey Programme under SPMS.
About 30 NTU undergraduates took part in the competition as individuals or in pairs. During the event, participants underwent two intense rounds of competition, with an hour-long tea break in between. During the preliminary round, participants were given a total of 75 minutes (individuals) or 60 minutes (pairs) to solve a total of 25 integrals by writing down their answers on the sheets of paper provided. Following this, the Top 8 finalists were selected and these teams went on to battle each other in five-minute phases, solving the integrals displayed on the screen by writing their answers on the whiteboard at the front of the LT.
The First Place, with the title of “Grand Integrator” was awarded to defending champion Jasraj Singh from Team Ignasa007. Second Place went to two EEE students, Bui Nguyen Huu An and Tran Phan Anh Danh, from Team IntEEEgral. Third Place was awarded to a pair of MSE and DSAI students, Matthew Osvaldo and Joshua Adrian Cahyono, from Team 2 Minors.
The organising committee expressed their appreciation to everyone who was involved in making the event a success. Congratulations to all the winners!
